The words they heard

[Verse 1] There's a woman with a heart so wide She gives and gives and never hides Her hands stay steady through the storm Her faith keeps every prayer warm She'll fuss at you and set you straight But every word is laced with grace [Chorus] She's the anchor when the waters rise The quiet strength behind these eyes A love that never walks away Through every night into the day She's the blessing heaven chose to send A love that knows no end [Verse 2] She held his hand through every mile Sat by his bed and kept her smile When grandad needed someone near Carolyn was always there Now grandma leans upon that same embrace The same devoted faithful place [Chorus] She's the anchor when the waters rise The quiet strength behind these eyes A love that never walks away Through every night into the day She's the blessing heaven chose to send A love that knows no end [Bridge] We may clash like summer thunder But nothing pulls this love asunder Every nag is just a prayer Her way of saying I'll always care [Verse 3] She lights up when the grandbabies call Got enough love to carry us all Her Bible close her spirit free Carolyn you made me who I'll be I admire you more than words can say I respect you more with every day [Chorus] You're the anchor when the waters rise The quiet strength behind these eyes A love that never walks away Through every night into the day You're the blessing heaven chose to send Carolyn a love that knows no end [Outro] Happy Mother's Day to you Every bit of love you gave is coming back to you

[0:00] [car engine running] [0:01] So, my name is Kikora and I made the song for my mom. [0:08] Um, I really, I mean, I had been seeing a lot of those Facebook ads and I literally cried every day watching them. [0:18] And you know, seeing people's reactions, so I was like, that'll be a nice gift for my mom for Mother's Day, like she would never expect that. [0:27] And I just know she would love it, and she would be balling and tears flowing, and I I just know her, so I knew it would definitely hit her. [0:36] Um, and in the song, I did put a part about, you know, her being by my granddad's side up until his dying day. [0:44] And at that time, my grandma was in a nursing home and she wasn't doing too good. [0:49] So I got the song made about two months before Mother's Day, just to make sure it came on time 'cause it's my first time doing it, which it is a very fast process. [1:00] I want to say, maybe a week, I had the song. [1:04] And then I had to, you know, keep myself from telling my mom or giving her hints that I had them made it 'cause I just loved it and I know she was going to love it so much. [1:15] So, by the time I gave it to her on Mother's Day, my grandma had actually passed. [1:21] We actually buried my grandma the day before Mother's Day. [1:26] So, you know, it really hit home once she heard it, you know. [1:32] And I mean, if you are hesitant about doing it, don't hesitate. [1:38] I promise whoever gets it, they're going to love it, they're not going to be expecting it and it it's a forever memory. [1:45] Like you will always have it, I'll have it stored in my email, so I can just easily just go to it. [1:51] Going to get a CD with it put on it. Um, so, if you're on the fence, just going to jump off the fence and get it done. [1:59] Money is well spent, lyrics, the voice, everything, I loved it. [2:04] We loved it. [2:05] [car engine running]

“But they're impossible to buy for.”

That is usually the point. Someone who already owns everything, or who insists on nothing, cannot be given a thing — but nobody already owns a song about their own life. You don't need to write, or be musical, or know what to say. You answer the same handful of questions Kiki did, and the writing is our job.
